Introducing the new Inforce 6410Plus SBC powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 600 processor (APQ8064). Inforce 6410Plus is the next generation enhanced version of the time-tested Inforce 6410 SBC. The plug-and-play Inforce 6410Plus SBC provides product developers instant access to the rich I/O and connectivity of the well proven and quad-core processing power of the Snapdragon 600 SoC. New features such as a short profile of just 16mm, GPS, support for dual-MIPI-DSI displays, and dual-MIPI-CSI cameras provide an ideal choice for embedded Android and Linux based applications. All of these new features are available at the same SBC price of $143 (board only) as that of the previous generation product.
The Inforce 6410Plus Single Board Computer (SBC) is based on the Snapdragon 600 processor (APQ8064) from Qualcomm. Inforce 6410Plus is the next generation enhanced version of the versatile and time-tested Inforce 6410 SBC. The product-ready platform of Inforce 6410Plus comes in an ultra-small Pico-ITX form factor (slightly larger than a credit card) suitable for a multitude of embedded designs. The plug-and-play Inforce 6410Plus SBC provides product developers instant access to the rich I/O and connectivity of the well proven and quad-core processing power of the Snapdragon 600 SoC. 1. What is Inforce 6410Plus?
The Inforce 6410Plus is an ultra-small, cost-effective single-board computer solution for embedded developers in a convenient Pico-ITX standard form factor. This platform provides developers access to the rich I/O features of Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 600 System-on-Chip. It provides a perfect environment for a variety of unique Android and Linux based multimedia applications including Wearables, Smart infrastructure, Industrial robotics, and Medical Imaging.
2. How is the Inforce6440 development kit and Inforce 6410 different from the Inforce 6410Plus?
The Inforce6440 is an Off-the-shelf Development System that contains GPS via WGR7640, 20MP camera module from Omnivision OV5645, MIPI-CSI2 and a Sensor Module with Pressure Sensors, Proximity Sensors, 3D Gyro, Compass and 3D Accelerometer. The core and rest of the hardware including the processor remains similar to the Inforce 6410Plus. The differences are tabulated below:
3. What do I get when I buy one Inforce 6410Plus? Is the device available internationally?
The box typically contains the Inforce 6410Plus platform and instructions to use it. Please check on the exact product SKU for the pre-loaded software, available memory and accessories provided. Once you register the product with us online, you would get dedicated support with BSPs for both Android and Linux from Inforce. The board would be shipped to most places around the world and relevant shipping and excise duty charges apply. Please get in touch with email@example.com for exact pricing.
4. What are the accessories available?

5. What is the storage capacity of the Inforce 6410Plus? Is it expandable?
Please check on the exact product SKU for the pre-loaded software and available memory. Typically the on-board storage (eMMC) capacity is 4GB expandable up to 64GB. Memory can be expanded by connecting a Micro-SD card or a SATA Hard drive. It is possible to draw power from the Power header available on board to drive the SATA hard disk. The available power is 5V and 12V and the current rating is in the range of 1A.
6. How powerful is the Inforce 6410Plus? What is the speed of the RAM?
The standalone Inforce 6410Plus provides quad core Cortex-A15 class computing at 1.7 GHz with 2MB L2 cache. The GPU Adreno320 is capable of 90 GFLOPS of general purpose compute and provides support for OpenGL ES 3.0 (Halti) and OpenCL 1.2E. But note that these libraries are provided as binaries only.
The onboard DDR3 RAM operates at 533Mhz.There are 1GB and 2GB variants of the platform available.
AnTuTu scores for the Inforce 6410Plus platform running Android is ~22000. All our Android releases are also validated with the Trepn™ Profiler to ensure that all cores are capable of operating at 1.7Ghz..
7. What types of displays are supported and at what resolution?
Primary dual-link MIPI-DSI up to WQXGA (2560 × 1600) 24 bpp @60 Hz refresh + Micro HDMI(1.4a) output of 1080p@60 Hz refresh are the displays supported. The displays can be purchased from http://inforcecomputing.com/products/accessories.
8. What are the capabilities of the video Decoder/Encoder?
Please refer to http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html for supported codecs from Android.
9. What is the camera capability?
The camera interface to the Inforce 6410Plus is through a 4-lane+2-lane MIPI-CSI 51 pin connector. Dual camera capability is supported on this connector. The maximum real-time sensor input resolution is 20MP in-line JPEG encode at 15 fps. Inforce platforms have been validated with the OV5645 camera module from OmniVision. Note that the camera is not provided as part of the Inforce 6410Plus kit. It could be purchased as an accessory from http://inforcecomputing.com/products/accessories
10. How much power does the board draw? Is it possible to measure the power?
The Inforce 6410Plus is powered from a 12V/2A wall adaptor. The total approximate power is 12W.
No, there are no test points made available to measure run-time power. But the input current through the DC jack can be measured during different usecases. We do run the Trepn profiler on all our software releases.
11. What are the audio capabilities?
Audio is available through HDMI, USB and speaker out. Slimbus is the interface between the processor and the on-board audio codec. The Inforce 6410Plus platform has 5.1 capability and a microphone for recording. The HDMI has an 8 channel audio with 7.1 channel surround sound, with support to Dolby digital plus, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD master.
12. What documents are provided? Are board design files also provided?
We provide Datasheets, User guides and Hardware Reference Manual. Schematics are provided for customers who enter into a support contract with Inforce. Board design files are proprietary and thus not shared.
All software releases are accompanied with release notes, user guides and application notes that describe all the features and the installation procedure. Apart from these, all technical questions related to the platform and the default software addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org are promptly answered once the product is registered with us.
13. Does the device support networking and wireless?
Yes, Gigabit Ethernet is supported. Yes, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (QCA6234) + Bluetooth 4.0 is available via the onboard Qualcomm Atheros QCA6234. GPS is supported via WGR7640.
14. How can I change the MAC address for WiFi/BT/Ethernet on my Board?
This should not be necessary since the correct addresses are programmed before the board is shipped. But if it is still required, please refer to the App Notes available on our website.
15. What are the IO interfaces available?
Standard I/O interfaces including GbE, I2C, SPI, UART, UIM, GPIOs, and on-board Serial Console are available. There are two USB 2.0 host port and one micro USB OTG port. We also provide a 34 pin expansion header off which 12 GPIOs are available for users.
16. My serial console shows garbage characters. What could be wrong?
The serial port could be incorrectly configured. Please note that the correct settings are - 115200, 8, N, 1, No HW flow control. Please also check your connections as described below. 17. What operating systems are supported and what is the OS roadmap?
Android 4.4 version BSP package is officially supported and available on Inforce Techweb today. Android 5.x version would soon be available. We also have an Ubuntu-based Linaro Member Build available that provides a desktop like environment using Ubuntu and the Gnome desktop. This package too is officially supported from Inforce Techweb. There has been significant progress within the Linux community and multiple successful projects have taken off because of the community support for Linux on Inforce development kits.
18. Is root access possible? Could you please explain how to get root privileges in Android?
Yes. As Android derives from the Linux kernel, rooting an Android device gives similar access administrative permissions as on Linux. Please give below commands in adb shell to get root privileges #adb root #adb remount
19. Is fastboot supported? How to enter fastboot?
Yes. To go to fastboot mode, keep the Fastboot button (label 9 on the QSG document for Inforce 6410Plus) pressed before powering on the board. Release it after the board is powered on.
20. I've modified the boot partitions on my board and the board is no longer booting. What should I do?
If the eMMC partitions have been erased or partition table has been corrupted, you need to recover the eMMC using the instructions you can find on Inforce Techweb site by referring to the application note called "SYS644X AND IFC6410 AppNote Recovery of bricked boards using SD Card".
21. Is Hexagon DSP supported on the Inforce 6410Plus platform?
Yes. The Inforce 6410Plus has one Hexagon DSP (version QDSP6 v4 @500 MHz) and Hexagon SDK 1.2.2 supports development on this hardware. Hexagon SDK can be obtained from https://developer.qualcomm.com/mobile-development/maximize-hardware/multimedia-optimization-hexagon-sdk/application Please note that Qualcomm approves SDK access to developers on case-by-case basis. 22. How can I get kernel debug messages?
Connect the device's serial port to the host PC. Refer to Question My serial console shows garbage characters. What could be wrong? for connection configuration. Boot into fastboot mode and issue the following command – – fastboot -c "console=ttyHSL0,115200n8r androidboot.hardware=qcom" boot boot.img Debug messages should start to show up.
23. Why isn't Google Play (previously Android Market) available on my board?
Google Play (previously Android Market) is part of Google Mobile Services(GMS) and is licensed separately from Google. This is usually available on commercial Android devices. Though our hardware is capable of meeting requirements of the Google Test Suite that would lead to GMS certification, we have not added this to our product. But it is possible to sideload any Android application using the following commands: #adb devices #adb mount #adb remount #adb install apk
